Wings' interest in Redden?

Once he passes through waivers Thursday and is bought out by the New York Rangers Saturday, Wade Redden can likely expect a phonecall (or few) from NHL teams looking to shore-up their respective blue lines. And the Detroit Red Wings may be part of that group.

As discussed by Ansar Khan of MLive.com, "Redden is among several defensemen the Red Wings have discussed internally". For a small fraction of the $5 million (cap hit: $6.5 million) Redden is due this season, the 35-year-old could provide some blue-line depth and veteran experience for squads in need.
