Are the Edmonton Oilers keen to sign Wade Redden once he's an unrestricted free agent? In a word, no. Or, probably not, anyway.
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun floated the possibility Thursday afternoon, but David Staple of the Edmonton Journal quickly dismissed the idea.
Staples argued the acquisition of Wade Redden negated the need for a defenseman like Redden. And the Oilers were already in decent blue-line shape to start the season.
Garrioch also suggested the Detroit Red Wings, Phoenix Coyotes, and Dallas Stars may also be interested in signing the veteran D-man.
