Bruins' offer for Morrow

Apparently it was down to the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins. And it seems the Bruins were willing to pay a substantial price for Brenden Morrow, before he was traded to Pittsburgh.

CSNNE.com reports the Bruins offered the Dallas Stars 19-year-old prospect Alexander Khokhlachev and a second-round pick for the 34-year-old winger. But the Stars opted to go for the Penguins' offer -- including hot defensive prospect Joe Morrow -- instead.

Khokhlachev scored 22 goals and 26 assists in 29 games with the OHL Windsor Spitfires this season (he spent half of 2012-13 in the KHL). The center was drafted 40th overall by the Bruins in 2011. Now it will be interesting to see if Boston GM Peter Chiarelli moves the 19-year-old Russian in exchange for another piece before the trade deadline.
