The New York Islanders rolled the dice Sunday night, acquiring two-time 40-goal scorer Thomas Vanek from the Buffalo Sabres for Matt Moulson, a first-round pick in 2014 and a second-round pick in 2015. There has been speculation that Vanek, a free agent after the season, will sign with the Minnesota Wild this summer, so the Islanders are gambling he will be more than a short-term rental, reports Katie Strang of ESPNNewYork.com.
