Buffalo Sabres winger Ville Leino has yet to play this season due to a nagging hip injury. A couple of weeks ago, coach Lindy Ruff rejected the notion that Leino would require surgery to repair his damaged joint, but he hinted Monday that it may be an inevitability, according to the Buffalo News' Mike Harrington.
"This latest treatment option we hope will work," Ruff said. "Surgery is always the the end of the line. You go to a surgeon, he's going to recommend surgery. That's just the way it goes."
Obviously, with the abbreviated season, hip surgery likely would keep Leino out for the remainder of the campaign.
