LB Alex Anzalone: UF coaches respectful

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Four-star linebacker Alex Anzalone (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) remains firm in his commitment to Notre Dame despite his trip to Gainesville for Florida's Friday Night Lights camp.

The 6-foot-3, 231-pound athlete said he enjoyed his time in Gainesville, but having visited Florida several times, there really wasn't anything new for him to learn about the program.

"I've seen Florida enough," Anzalone said. "It's not like it's my second visit there or something like that. I know it. The coaches even say I could probably give a better tour than them around campus. I had a fun time competing with the Florida kids though.

"The coaches left me alone, they didn't recruit me at all which was very respectful on their part. Just the fact they didn't recruit me, I mean that shows a lot. It shows what kind of people they are and their philosophy. Their awesome. I'll probably always be a Florida fan, because I grew up being one -- but not if I'm playing them."

Anzalone, who is competing on the Midwest team at Champion Gridiron Kings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., this weekend, said that nothing has changed in his pledge to Notre Dame.

"I'm solidly committed to Notre Dame," he said. "I'm not sure if I will take any visits. There's not many opportunities in life where you can go around the country and watch college football games for free. I'm still committed to Notre Dame, but we'll see what happens. I have some Saturday games so it's kind of tough."

Anzalone is the No. 5-ranked outside linebacker and the No. 63-ranked player overall.
