Manning (almost) better than he's ever been

There are many stats that show how Peyton Manning has come all the way back from the neck injury that sidelined him last season.

ManningBut one came across our desk from Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Browns that seemed worth mentioning.

Manning’s three touchdowns Sunday gave him 34 for the season. That’s the second-most he’s ever had in a single season, surpassed only by his 49-touchdown season in 2004.

Manning has had 33 touchdowns in a season three times in his career, including his last two seasons with the Colts.

What else was of note from Manning’s game on Sunday?

• He tied Brett Favre for the most games in NFL history with at least three touchdown passes (72).

• His 34 touchdowns for the season are two shy of the NFL record for the most by a quarterback age 36 or older, trailing only Y.A. Tittle (1963) and Steve Young (1998), who each had 36.

• Manning improved to 6-0 all-time against the Browns.

His three touchdowns were one more than he threw in his previous five starts against them combined.

The Broncos have won 10 straight against the Browns overall, with their last loss coming in 1990.

Manning finished with a 93.6 Total QBR, upping his season rating to 82.7. That's the best in the NFL. Manning led the NFL in Total QBR in both 2008 and 2009. The latter year, his QBR was nearly identical to this season, 82.9.

Manning has eight games this season with a Total QBR of 90 or better, the most by any quarterback in the last five seasons.
