What would it take to trade for Chris Sale?

What would it take to pry Sale away from the White Sox? (3:18)

Jim Bowden examines the players the Red Sox and Rangers would have to surrender in order to acquire Chris Sale from the White Sox. (3:18)

Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn publicly stated last week that he will listen to offers for any player on his roster, including American League Cy Young Award front-runner Chris Sale, who is tied for the major league lead with 14 wins and has a 3.18 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. Just 27, he's signed to a club-friendly contract and is under team control through 2019.

It's rare that teams listen to offers for a No. 1 starter, much less one who is still in his prime and is Cy Young-worthy. But the White Sox are indeed listening, and I thought it would be a fun exercise to see what they would be asking for in exchange for their ace. Remember, these are NOT deals I think will happen. I just present them to lay out the asking price, what type of package the White Sox would expect in return from five teams -- Red Sox, Rangers, Nationals, Cubs, Dodgers -- that could be interested in the lanky lefty.

Also, props to ESPN colleague David Schoenfield, who suggested the White Sox should look into a trade of Sale more than a month ago (on June 21).
