Seattle rises in Vegas Rankings

LAS VEGAS -- The top three teams in the NFL Vegas Rankings -- Green Bay, New England and Denver -- maintained their positions in Week 14, while Seattle made it a fearsome foursome.

The Packers and Broncos ended up not covering the spread in their victories over the Falcons and Bills, respectively, while the Patriots had to rally to beat (and eventually cover against) the Chargers. All of their power ratings from our panel of handicappers -- Erin Rynning of sportsmemo.com, Sal Selvaggio of madduxsports.com and yours truly, Dave Tuley -- stayed the same, with the Packers keeping the top spot by a half-point, while the panel was impressed enough with Seattle's road rout of Philadelphia to move the Seahawks into a three-way tie for second.

And we weren't the only ones in Vegas feeling the love. The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, which has Green Bay as the 5-2 favorite to win the Super Bowl, has defending champion Seattle as 7-2 co-second choices with New England, while Denver is 9-2. Just like our power ratings, where there's a gap to the fifth team -- the Indianapolis Colts -- the Westgate futures also have a gap, with no other team with single-digit odds (the Colts are next at 14-1).

The NFL Vegas Rankings combine the personal power ratings from our panel and can be used to create your own ratings or to compare two teams to the current point spread as if they were meeting on a neutral field before factoring in home-field advantage. The industry standard is 2.5 points for home field, but teams such as Green Bay, New England and San Francisco are typically given a full field goal, while Denver and New Orleans are closer to 3.5. Seattle is given the biggest home-field advantage in the league (about 4 points).

Below is a look at the power ratings for all 32 NFL teams, along with Week 15 games where there appears to be value in the current lines. As always, these are not my personal plays or those of any of the other handicappers, but rather the collective group as a whole. I'll post my thoughts in the Tuley's Take column on Friday.

1. Green Bay Packers (Power rating: 27)
Green Bay looked the part of the No. 1-rated team when it built a 31-7 lead over Atlanta on Monday night, but failing to cover the closing 13.5-point spread in an eventual 43-37 victory keeps its power rating from being upgraded.
