Five things I learned this weekend:

The Mountaineers will be formidable in the big cities
West Virginia won a recruiting battle ground game when it beat Maryland 37-31. The two teams will constantly be facing off in the mid-Atlantic area. Despite being just a four-hour drive apart, the two teams have very different things to sell prospects, such as different conferences (for now) and different lifestyles (city versus country). Yet West Virginia can offer something Maryland currently can't -- a more successful program. The Mountaineers have a history of success and a top-25 program. Maryland is rebuilding.

The win was especially big for Mountaineer assistant coach Daron Roberts, who recruits against Maryland in its backyard.
