HOUSTON -- Bailey Zappe threw three touchdown passes and Houston Baptist held off Lamar for a 31-26 victory on Saturday.
Zappe was 14-of-27 passing for 251 yards and threw all three scores to Jerreth Sterns, who finished with five catches for 53 yards. Dreshawn Minnieweather added 129 yards rushing and a touchdown for Houston Baptist (5-6, 2-5 Southland Conference). Ben Ratzlaff had 83 yards receiving on five catches, and Alfred King had an interception for the Huskies.
The Huskies' Gino Garcia had a 46-yard field goal attempt blocked by Michael Lawson with 3:18 remaining. On the ensuing drive, Lamar got to the Houston Baptist 33 but threw an incomplete pass on fourth-and-1 with 1:15 to play.
