Ref was hit 'couple times' during OU-Texas fray

Big 12 referee Mike Defee issued unsportsmanlike conduct penalties to every player on the Oklahoma and Texas teams after they had to be separated at midfield following warm-ups.

Big 12 referee Mike Defee told a pool reporter that both he and the head linesman were hit during the pre-game incident between Oklahoma and Texas: "This is the 115th playing of this great game and to have that kind of thing happen is disappointing. We can't control that as officials. ... What happened out there is an embarrassment to everyone. It shouldn't happen." Defee said both coaches had been warned entering the game. He had never called a pre-game penalty before today.
