Patriot League breakdown

Here are a few things to pay attention to in the Patriot League as the NCAA basketball season nears and signing day lurks around the corner:

Best incoming freshman

PG Justin Burrell to Holy Cross
Bucknell guard Steven Kasper was the league's highest-rated signee in the Class of 2011, and while he is a big lead guard who eventually could blossom into one of the league's top players, Burrell is more likely to make a bigger impact this season by virtue of his opportunity. Burrell committed to coach Milan Brown when Brown was still running the show at Mount St. Mary's. When Brown made the move north, Burrell spent a year at Fishburne Military Academy in order to follow suit. He's a 5-foot-8 sparkplug who can make plays with the ball in his hands, both in transition and playing off a ball screen in the half-court set. Between Fishburne and Potomac High School, he has more experience playing against high levels of competition than most freshmen, and consequently should have an easier adjustment with the speed and physicality of the game.
