Michigan schools leading the way

Here's a team-by-team breakdown of the Big Ten's 2012 recruiting classes after the early signing period.

Michigan State Spartans

This four-man class, loaded with ESPNU 100 prospects, will give coach Tom Izzo immediate help and depth inside and out. The group is highlighted by its most recent commitment, SG Gary Harris (Indianapolis/Hamilton SE), who is a supreme talent that continues to improve and has a chance to be special. Skilled PF Kenny Kaminski (Medina, Ohio/Medina Senior) will be a terrific pick-and-pop forward in the Spartans' set plays with size and deep shooting range. C Matt Costello (Linwood, Mich./Bay City Western) will provide size and some back-to-the-basket scoring, while SF Denzel Valentine (Lansing, Mich./Sexton) makes terrific plays with the ball in his hands thanks to his ability to handle and pass.

Michigan Wolverines

Coach John Beilein has Ann Arbor buzzing after landing the No. 2 overall player in PF Mitch McGary (Chesterton, Ind./Brewster Academy), who has the size, motor and skill to make an immediate impact. Add super athletic scoring wing Glenn Robinson (St. John, Ind./Lake Central), the son of Purdue great Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson, and Canadian sharp shooter SF Nik Stauskas (Mississauga, Ontario/St. Mark's) and the Wolverines land three ESPNU 100 players that not only fill a need but make the Maize and Blue a major player in the Big Ten for years to come.
