The calendar may still read 2013, but at RecruitingNation hoops, we're all in on 2014.
That's very much the case as we reboot our #BlueChipBattles franchise to go with the release of the new ESPN 100 player rankings. If you're new to our battles, let us break it down for you. Our staff picks the top 10 current recruiting battles for the class' elite ballers, using recent recruiting news (trimmed-down lists, recent visits, commitments, etc.) as well as info from our sources. We then offer our take on the latest buzz and predict which teams may be in the lead or falling behind in the race for that particular prospect.
Note: Front-runners/dark horses are staff picks based on rumors/developing trends and recent recruiting activity.
Here's a look at our panel of experts: Dave Telep (@DaveTelep), Paul Biancardi (@PaulBiancardi), Reggie Rankin (@ReggieRankin), Adam Finkelstein (@FinkelsteinNERR), Joel Francisco (@JoelFranESPN), John Stovall (@john_stovall) and Michael LaPlante (@hoopsconnection).
We want your tweets
Now your contributions to the list begin. Take a look at what our experts say about the battles, then head to Twitter and offer us your feedback using #BlueChipBattles. We'll retweet the best and add them to our page.
This week's list
The long-rumored package deal of Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor got an extra jolt when a third top-15 prospect hinted at his desire to play with the elite duo. That player earned the No. 4 spot in our rankings. Also, headlining our list is a fast-rising center recruit, a trio of highly coveted wings and the nation's newly minted No. 2 recruit.
