Post-spring depth chart: Offense

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Now that spring practice has ended, TideNation takes a look at Alabama's projected offensive depth chart. An asterisk denotes a player who enrolled early:

Starter: AJ McCarron (RS Sr.) Backup: Alec Morris (RS Fr.) or Blake Sims (RS Jr.)

There's no doubt that McCarron's the starter. The question is, who will be his backup, and ultimately the one to take over in case of an extended absence? They might not be one in the same, as Sims is likely only a short-term solution running the read-option. Morris, the strong-armed Texan who redshirted last season, is the best passer of the group and could fight to become the starter should McCarron go down for more than a week or so.

Running back
Starter: T.J. Yeldon (Soph.) Backup: Kenyan Drake (Soph.), Jalston Folwer (RS Jr.) or Derrick Henry (Fr.*)

At this point, does it matter who the starter is? The rotation of tailbacks has been a blur through the last few seasons. There have been All-Americans first, second and third on the depth chart. It's possible this season will be no different, as the young and explosive Drake ascends to No. 2 behind Yeldon. He'll be followed by a veteran and short-yardage option in Fowler. The wild card might be Henry. He has all the tools and would have shown as much at A-Day, had his spring not been cut short before the game.
