Georgia special teams not so special

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Two familiar problems cropped up again in Georgia's 33-28 win against Vanderbilt on Saturday night -- failures on special teams and defending trick plays.

Georgia controlled the game between first and third down for the most part, but Vanderbilt caught the Bulldogs with their pants down with a handful of gadget plays -- and those errors were compounded by glaring special teams screw-ups that kept alive the Commodores' hopes for victory until the final gun.

It was not a new concern for Georgia coach Mark Richt, whose team nearly blew Saturday's win when Drew Butler had a punt blocked in the closing seconds, allowing Vanderbilt two plays at the Georgia 25 before the Bulldogs defense finally wrapped up the win.
