Kalis' flip boosts Wolverines

Editor's note: WolverineNation recruiting editor Tom VanHaaren will rank the Wolverines' commitments from 10-1 according to the importance of each to the 2012 roster. Prospect No. 1 is offensive lineman Kyle Kalis.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Kyle Kalis is the most important commitment that Michigan has so far in the 2012 class, and for multiple reasons. First, he was originally committed to Ohio State. The decision to change his commitment after a visit to Ann Arbor reinvigorated the rivalry and showed Ohio State fans that Michigan's Brady Hoke and his staff can recruit.

Despite his committment to Ohio State early in his junior year, Kalis also held offers from Auburn, Florida, Alabama, Notre Dame, LSU, Penn State and more. Kalis is not just a top offensive lineman in the Midwest, but nationally. Named to the U.S. Army All-American game, Kalis -- a four-star recruit and No. 137 in the ESPNU 150 -- is the real deal.
