WolverineNation runs a Recruiting Mailbag feature every other week and conducts a live chat in the weeks when the mailbag doesn't run. Here's a look at this week's questions from the readers:
Ryan Kunitzer, Saginaw, Mich.: [Former Michigan coach] Lloyd Carr seemed like he had success recruiting California, and Rich Rodriguez in Florida. It appears Brady Hoke is going for some California players, so how important is establishing a state not near Michigan with helping recruiting?
A: It's very important, because you're not going to fill your whole class with Midwest prospects. The bigger states such as California, Texas and Florida produce some of the top talent year after year. It's important to go after those kids because you never know what could happen.
