Heading into Michigan's season opener against Alabama the hype was high and it seemed as though this would be an excellent recruiting tool for the Wolverines. That hype and excitement quickly vanished as the Crimson Tide got off to a fast start to say the least.
The 27-point margin was the worst season-opening loss in Michigan's storied history. All eyes were on this game as it was in prime time on ABC. Michigan's commits were tweeting during the game and lending support after the game as well.
"Thanks for all the support, but Michigan will be fine! It's the first week, and we were playing the defending Natty Champs! Relax. #GoBlue," 2013 quarterback commit Shane Morris (Warren, Mich./De La Salle) tweeted after the game.
Morris has been a vocal leader and supporter for Michigan, so it's no surprise he maintained a positive outlook on the game. Most of the commitments were in agreement with the future quarterback but were still frustrated with the outcome. Tight end Jake Butt (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) said he was disappointed with the game, but that there is still a lot of season left for the Wolverines.
