John Walsh recognized the natural talent of sophomore quarterback Jerrod Heard (Denton, Texas/Guyer) years ago.
"Since the seventh grade, he's been on our charter bus going to games," said Walsh, the head coach at Guyer. "He was on our sidelines and in meetings, we knew he was going to be our future."
His talent is no longer unnoticed, as Heard has emerged as one of the quarterbacks to watch in the state of Texas for the class of 2014. His name should be particularly intriguing for Sooners fans, because he combines the passing skills and running ability that Oklahoma has favored in recent classes with its signings of Blake Bell, Kendal Thompson and Trevor Knight.
