NORMAN, Okla. -- All of those hours in the weight room, on the practice field and in the classroom are about to pay off for former Oklahoma receiver Ryan Broyles. The all-time FBS career receptions leader has overcome several obstacles, including a torn ACL in his left knee late in his senior season, and is now on the cusp of realizing his childhood dream of being drafted into the NFL.
With the first round of the 2012 NFL draft beginning on Thursday, Broyles agreed to write a dispatch for SoonerNation about his thoughts leading up to the weekend that will decide the next step in his life:
The NFL process has been fun. I've always dreamed about getting drafted, so I've been basically waiting like a little kid does for Christmas.
