Realignment changes recruiting areas

Angus McClure can't protect it all.

It's all too much. Hundreds of high schools. Miles of players. Talent everywhere.

"There is no way to throw a fence around Southern California," the UCLA recruiting coordinator said. "There are too many players."

In the last two years, McClure said 220 players in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas signed college scholarships. That's roughly five full recruiting classes for teams for two straight years.

"This is where everybody comes to recruit," he said. "And when you look at the numbers you understand why."
