A Starr in the making?

LOS ANGELES -- Does Scott Starr have a little Brian Cushing in him? Where could Darreus Rogers possibly fit in the hierarchy of recent USC receiving greats? This and more will be discussed in this week's Recruiting Roundtable, a comprehensive discussion between WeAreSC's Garry Paskwietz, Erik McKinney and Kyle Williams, along with ESPN's Greg Biggins.

Linebacker Scott Starr (Norco, Calif -- USC commit)

Kyle Williams: First thing watching film, seeing his clips from last season, there is a very big improvement this year. Seeing him at the Stanford Nike Camp in Palo Alto, he was very vocal, which I liked. High intensity, high energy, everything that you want to see. People say he looks like a baby Brian Cushing, which he does. He was definitely the leader of the team. [Norco] use him kind of like how USC used Cushing and Clay Matthews, as a standup defensive end. As of right now, what concerns me a little bit is that people will compare him to those former USC standouts, especially because he'll be going to USC, and it could turn into something along the lines of Joe McKnight, where he was supposed to be the next Reggie Bush and it didn't quite happen. But Starr is a competitor, so I don't think he'll let that get to him. He wants to get to the quarterback so badly. That's one thing that stands out about him. I think he's a good player. With some coaching, and some additional technique, he definitely can put on some more weight and I don't think that will hinder him at all. I like the kid.
