Two of this weekend's more intriguing high school games were completed on Thursday night, as some schools finish their non-conference schedules while others will get their first taste of league play. WeAreSC also provides updates on two linebacker recruits -- one committed and one being pursued -- and a look at the USC official-visit strategy.
Westlake Village Oaks Christian (3-2) vs. Westlake Village Westlake (5-0): Westlake made a big statement with a 43-21 victory over Oaks Christian on Thursday night, behind 439 rushing yards -- 222 of them coming from Justin Moore. The teams had been tied for first place in the Marmonte League, but Westlake now sits atop the league.
Encino Crespi (5-1) vs. Woodland Hills Taft (1-4): Crespi bounced back from a tough loss to Vista Murrieta with a huge win over Taft, 56-7. USC target Jordan Simmons paved the way up front, but wide receivers Chris Harper and Michael Davison each scored two touchdowns. Harper's first was a terrific grab over a defender on a deep ball, and Davison's second was on a punt return. Crespi now heads into league play with tough games against Notre Dame, Bishop Amat, Alemany and Loyola to close their regular season.
