With the high school football season at the halfway point for most Southern California teams, WeAreSC looks at the top 10 teams through the first half of the season. But with pivotal league games still on the schedule, this list could undergo some drastic changes between now and the final whistle.
1. Santa Margarita (5-0)
The Eagles -- loaded with junior prospects -- could top this list for the foreseeable future, as head coach Harry Welch has his program headed in the right direction. Led by USC commit Max Tuerk, the offensive line has dominated in all five victories. Quarterback Johnny Stanton and tailback Ryan Wolpin have been terrific running the ball, and the combination of Connor O'Brien and Reid Andrew have been tremendous in the secondary.
Best win: 38-27 over Los Alamitos (4-1)
Best remaining game: Nov. 11 vs. Anaheim Servite.
Westlake began the season by grinding out a tough road win over Loomis Del Oro, but has had its offense rolling from the opening kick. Quarterback Justin Moore and tailbacks Jarrius Bishop and Dashon Hunt all have rushed for at least 200 yards this year and seven different Warriors have accounted for touchdowns on the ground. Defensively, the tandem of Colorado defensive tackle commit Justin Solis and UCLA commit Hunt at cornerback has been outstanding.
Best win: 43-21 over Westlake Village Oaks Christian (3-2)
Best remaining game: Nov. 10 vs. Ventura St. Bonaventure
