When the USC Trojans and Stanford Cardinal meet at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday evening, the play of the offensive line could determine the winner.
When the Trojans and Cardinal meet on the recruiting trail, it could be yet another offensive lineman who determines which side emerges victoriously.
As USC coach Lane Kiffin and the his staff look to stockpile talent along the offensive line in this class, their gaze has settled on Kyle Murphy (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente). At 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds, Murphy is the No. 5 offensive tackle in the ESPNU 150 and currently holds scholarship offers from just about every major FBS program, including the entire Pac-12 Conference. Murphy does his best to stay away from talk about recruiting, but Stanford and USC are among the schools high on his list. The Cardinal could hold a fairly significant advantage in tight ends/offensive tackles coach Ron Crook, who served as the offensive line coach at Harvard for the past eight seasons and coached Murphy's older brother -- Kevin Murphy, currently a senior tackle for the Crimson.
