Catching up with James Cregg

LOS ANGELES -- Thought to be a weakness heading into last season, USC's offensive line was a strength for the Trojans, protecting Matt Barkley and helping lead the Trojans to a 10-2 record. We'll talk to the man behind the line, offensive line coach James Cregg, to discover the foundation for the unit's success.

KW: If you're recruiting two players at the same position and both are equal in size, speed, grades and overall ability, what would you make your decision on when offering a scholarship?

JC: The player's character is huge. One of the first things we do when we find a player we like is call his coach and ask him what he thought about him and if he would personally recommend him. After that we dig even deeper as we ask people in and around the high school about the kid and dig deeper into his personality. But character is a huge, huge deal for us.
