Dodgers play for today, future

DISNEY WORLD -- Rafael Furcal and Jeff Kent are at least a week from playing, Jayson Werth is still a matter of months away and a half-dozen players have left for the WBC. But Grady Little just shrugs it all off.

"In many ways, all the playing time that's available will be good, because it means we'll see more of all these young players we have here," says Little. Someone asked him about the injury history with his roster. "I don't look at that as a total negative, again, because it opens the door for us to see some of these young players. There is a lot of talent here in the Dodger organization. Sometimes with young players all they need is an opportunity."

The deals engineered by GM Ned Colletti have given Little depth with which to work, with Nomar Garciaparra at first, Furcal at short, Bill Mueller at third, Kenny Lofton in center, Danys Baez in the bullpen and Jae Seo and Brett Tomko in the rotation. He expects Furcal and Kent back within a week to ten days.
