Bizarro Wildcats

March, 16, 2006
PHILADELPHIA -- It's almost a surreal experience here at the Wachovia Center. It's like that "Bizarro Jerry" episode on "Seinfeld." Usually the arrival of the University of Kentucky at a first- and second-round NCAA Tournament site is akin to the arrival of the Beatles. The Wildcats hog the spotlight, they get all the attention and the Kentucky locker room is gridlock.

Not this time. Not with Tubby's team coming in as a No. 8 seed. Not with No. 1 seeds Connecticut and Villanova in the house of A.I. Throw Kentucky's first-round opponent UAB into the mix, and the Big Blue Nation is about the fourth-most interesting team here. It's like the Beatles have been pulled from the bill and replaced by Warrant. Buzz has been replaced by blah.
