Added security at Petco

April, 6, 2006
The left-field corner, an area where fans can stand during the game, will be closed the remainder of the series. Before the three-game series at Petco Park, the Padres added security to the game, along the left-field line and around the Giants' dugout. Major League Baseball has also assigned two more security personnel to Bonds, a practice that began in 2001 when he began his assault on the single-season home run record.

The premiere of "Bonds on Bonds," an ESPN Original Entertainment production produced by Tollin/Robbins, a Los Angeles based production company also took place on Tuesday. Giants manager Felipe Alou was interested in the documentary, and at one point, with reporters in his office for his pregame meeting, Alou began flipping through the channels looking for the show. When he passed a rap video with singer Kanye West in a hot tub with a half-dozen bikini-clad women, one reporter said, "That's the show." Even Alou couldn't help but burst out in laughter at the joke.

ESPN's Pedro Gomez covered the Oakland A's home and away nearly every day from 1992-97 for the San Jose Mercury News and Sacramento Bee and then became the national baseball writer and later a general columnist at the Arizona Republic before becoming an ESPN bureau reporter in 2003.
