Alou's ankle the big story

May, 5, 2006
PHILADELPHIA -- Seven home runs went roaring out of Citizens Bank Park on Friday night. But none of them was launched by that noted home run historian, Barry Bonds.

In fact, about the only historic thing Bonds did during his 0-for-3 evening was hit into an almost-impossible 3-5-4 double play (made possible by the miracle of the Bonds Shift and a batter who now runs at the approximate speed of a salamander towing a tractor-trailer).

Even the fans of Philadelphia managed to avoid living down to their sparkling reputation -- by not throwing a single marine battery, cheesesteak, construction girder or Rocky statuette at their favorite visiting left fielder.
