Steps in the right direction

I applaud the NBA for its quick and decisive action against the fan who called Dikembe Mutombo a "monkey" at a recent exhibition game between the Magic and the Rockets. The comment was judged to be a racial slur, and in case you hadn't heard, the league banned the Orlando season-ticket holder from attending any and all NBA games this season.

Also, while I am a big fan of Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, I like the fact that the league's board of governors has moved to legislate unruly behavior by team owners.

What I like about both of these actions is that they promote equality in the NBA world. It often seems like David Stern and his minions are quick to regulate the players' behavior while turning a blind eye to what others involved in the league do.
