Jeff Bowden resignation a positive for FSU recruiting

November, 14, 2006
Many Seminoles fans got what they have been asking for as offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden has announced he will step down at the end of the season. For a while now, the younger Bowden has been the poster child for the Florida State offensive struggles; since he's taken over for Mark Richt, it seems as if the Seminoles have struggled more and more as an offensive team.

We will all soon find out how much of this was Bowden's fault when someone new takes over, but it is hard to argue with the numbers. This year, the Seminoles under Bowden's direction are 65th in total offense and 47th in scoring offense. Not horrendous numbers, but far from what is expected from a team like Florida State with the talent they have.

The rushing offense, ranked 98th in the nation, is a major area of concern. It seemed everything came to a boiling point last Saturday as the Seminoles were shut out by Wake Forest at home in a sloppy effort. While the defense was not blameless in that loss, the offense could get nothing really generated.
