Emotion fuels champion Gators

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- This should start and end with Reggie Nelson, because football is a game of emotion and no player carried more into this game than he did.

It should start and end with Nelson because Florida's best player carried the emotional burden of having lost his mother to cancer recently, and because when the game was over and the Gators were crowned as champions, he said that more than anything, he only wishes he could speak with her again.

"A person never gets over losing his mother," Nelson said on the field, as confetti fluttered. "I'm a Momma's boy at heart. All I wanted was to make her proud."
