Mustain considers transfer options

January, 17, 2007
Former Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain, who on Tuesday was released from his scholarship by Hogs coach Houston Nutt, hasn't yet contacted Tulsa about transferring there, according to one of the Golden Hurricanes' new coaches.

Mustain, who was the country's top-rated high school quarterback after leading Springdale (Ark.) High School to a state championship in 2005, also is considering transferring to Oklahoma or Louisville, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Tulsa seems to be an obvious destination for Mustain because Gus Malzahn, his coach at Springdale High, was named Tulsa's co-offensive coordinator and assistant head coach this week. Malzahn joined new Tulsa coach Todd Graham's staff after spending one season at Arkansas.
