Michigan adds huge run stuffer

June, 6, 2007
Michigan beefed up its interior defensive line yesterday by snagging in-state defensive tackle Mike Martin (Redford, Mich./Catholic Central). The massive 6-foot-1, 295-pound run stuffer chose the Wolverines over many other schools, including Penn State, Michigan State, Iowa and Northwestern.

The ESPN 150 Watch List prospect brings more to the table than just crowding the ball and controlling his gap. Martin flashes explosive takeoff and carries his weight well for a near 300-pounder. When he utilizes his hands and proper leverage, the gritty defensive lineman can be dominating. We project our No. 12-ranked Class of 2008 defensive tackle to be a productive starter in Ann Arbor for several seasons.
