Not surprised by Big Unit

Yesterday for six innings, 43-year-old Randy Johnson made the Red Sox look pretty silly. Johnson did post a 5.00 ERA with the Yankees last season, leading some to wonder how much he still had in the tank, and whether he'd get to 300 wins (he finished 2006 with 280). But as Nick Cafardo writes in the Boston Globe, maybe all Johnson really needed was to escape from New York ...
Though Johnson had two 17-win seasons with the Yankees, those weren't happy times for him. For as much as his former teammate, Schilling, has loved the pressure of Boston, Johnson hated the microscope of New York. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman dealt him back to the Diamondbacks in the offseason because Johnson told him he didn't want to pitch in New York anymore.
