Barksdale heads new Ole Miss commits

June, 26, 2007
Versatile athlete Darius Barksdale became the third player from in-state South Panola High School to commit to Ole Miss this week, joining cousin Bud Barksdale, a safety prospect and offensive guard Quin Sanford. Barksdale flashes promise on both sides of the ball but is projected to play running back at Mississippi, which is his natural position.

Barksdale is a nice blend of size, speed and lower-body power. The well-built back is an effective in-line runner with his excellent leg drive and lean in traffic. He is best between the tackles but flashes deceptive speed and a good burst in the open-field. The slashing runner possesses good measurables for a running back but still needs to work on his balance and agility to become a complete back at the next level.
