Elias Says ...

A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:

Grant Hill made his 2005-2006 debut for the Magic at Madison Square Garden after sitting out the first 19 games of the season. Hill missed only 25 games over his first six NBA seasons, all with Detroit (from 1994-1995 to 1999-2000). Over that span, the Pistons had a winning record when Hill played (227-208, .522) but were under .500 in the games he sat out (.360, 9-16). But in six seasons with Orlando (2000-2001 to 2005-2006), Hill has played only 27 percent of the team's games (115 of 430), and the Magic has a losing record both with (55-60, .478) and without him (140-175, .444).

On the same night that Hill returned to the court, the Pacers were adjusting to life without Ron Artest, something that Indiana is all too familiar with. Since acquiring Artest in February 2002, Indiana has a .668 winning percentage in the 193 games he's played (129-64) and a .510 mark in the 102 games he's missed (52-50).
