A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:
• At the age of 34, Shaquille O'Neal turned in a vintage performance, scoring 30 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in the Heat's series-clinching 113-96 win at Chicago. The only older player to record a 30/20 in the NBA playoffs was Charles Barkley at age 36 in 1999.
• How impossible was it to guard O'Neal? Starting opposite Shaq, Michael Sweetney fouled out in just 11 minutes. It was the fastest disqualification on fouls by any starting center in an NBA playoff game in more than 40 years.
Note also that Tyson Chandler picked up five fouls in 18 minutes of playing time, after accumulating five fouls in just five minutes in Game 5.
• Anthony Johnson scored 40 points in the Pacers' 96–90 loss to the Nets. Once Johnson is over the disappointment of his team's elimination from the 2006 NBA postseason, he can boast of being the only player in NBA history to score 40 or more points in the playoff game following a season in which he averaged less than 10 points per game.
