Elias Says ...

A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:

• The Suns beat the Clippers 130-123 on Monday night. That's the highest-scoring non-overtime NBA playoff game in eleven years -- since Houston won at Utah, 140-126, on April 29, 1995. Kenny Smith was the leading scorer in that game with 32 points for the Rockets.

Elton Brand scored 40 points for the Clippers, shooting 18-for-22 (.818) from the field. That's the second-highest field-goal percentage in NBA playoff history by a player who scored 40 or more points. The record is held by Portland's Terry Porter, who was 12-for-14 (.857) in a 41-point performance against Utah on May 19, 1992. (Porter made four 3-pointers and 13 free throws in that game.)
