Remember, Holzhauer had crushed the one-day record when he won $110,914. Then he topped his own record with a $131,127 game. The previous record was $77,000. Why does ESPN care? Las Vegas sports bettor James Holzhauer won’t appear on “Jeopardy!” for two weeks, but he still hasn’t lost. Holzhauer notched his 22nd straight victory in the episode that aired Friday with $82,381, bringing his total winnings to $1.69 million. “Jeopardy!” will host a tournament for teachers the next two weeks. According to community site thejeopardyfan.com, Holzhauer’s next appearance will be May 20. “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek closed Friday’s show by noting the break and saying, “He’s tired from winning so much.”
