FunPlus Phoenix beat G2 Esports 3-0 on Sunday to win the League of Legends World Champions at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris.

The Chinese team will receive 37.5 percent of the prize pool, which will be at least $2.225 million in total, according to Riot Games. G2 will take home 13.5 percent of the pool.

Both teams were playing in their first worlds final, but G2 came into it with the edge in experience.

The second-place team out of Group A, G2 are considered the best European League of Legends team in history, having arrived at worlds as the Mid-Season Invitational champion and winner of both their domestic splits.

But FPX, which won China's League of Legends Pro League summer playoffs to earn an automatic entry into the world championship, rebounded from a spotty performance in Group B play to dominate in the knockout stage and become the second consecutive world champion from China.

Worlds began with 16 teams divided into four groups for a double round robin of best-of-one matches. The top two teams in each group advanced to the best-of-five quarterfinals.
