If You're Hardcore: Orioles closer options

With closer George Sherrill hitting the disabled list with shoulder inflammation, the Orioles have turned to 25-year-old right-hander Jim Johnson to pitch the ninth inning.

Johnson, a fifth-round pick in the 2001 draft, has pitched just over 600 mostly undistinguished innings in his minor league career and saw only five innings of major league action before this season. This year, Johnson has compiled a 2.33 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 65 2/3 innings, but his gaudy surface stats are mostly smoke and mirrors.
