Maybe he's the guy who can keep the ball in the park
Phil Hughes, RHP, Yankees (Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre)
Wednesday's stats: W, 3-0: 7.2 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 7 K
Hughes' potential has teased Yankees fans for years, but the need in New York is growing a bit desperate, especially with Chien-Ming Wang's downright disturbing struggles. With three straight very good starts at Triple-A, Hughes could be close to getting the call, but the Yankees would rather see him return in a less stressful situation.
That Motown Sound just might be the ball popping the mitt
Joel Zumaya, RHP, Tigers (Triple-A Toledo)
Wednesday's stats: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
Slowly working his way back from what have become seemingly never-ending arm injuries, Zumaya is starting to regain his velocity, sitting at 95-97 mph in his three appearances for the Mud Hens while striking out five in four scoreless innings. Do us a favor, Joel, no more "Guitar Hero," OK?
