Giants promote Alderson, Bumgarner

Different coast, same results

Tim Alderson, RHP, Giants (Double-A Connecticut)

Sunday's stats: 6.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K

The most talented team in the minors broke up last week, as now that the weather has warmed up in the Northeast, the Giants sent San Jose's one-two punch of Alderson and Madison Bumgarner up to Double-A. Alderson's debut was, needless to say, a stunning success, and San Francisco has come that much closer to having one of the big league's best rotations.

Just wasting time

Brandon Wood, SS, Angels (Triple-A Salt Lake)

Sunday's stats: 1-for-3, HR (6), R, RBI, BB, K

When he's up, he rides the pine, and when he's down, he hits the tar out of the ball. With home runs in back-to-back games and six in just 46 at-bats, Wood is batting .326/.404/.804 (average/on-base/slugging). For some reason, the Angels don't seem to think he would be a better option than either Chone Figgins or Erick Aybar on the left side of the infield.
