Laughter In The Dark: Good Match-Ups
Pittsburgh Pirates: 3 vs. TEX; 3 vs. CHA. They were third on this list last week, and they're first this week. Yeah, that's right, I'm a contrarian, what do you want from me? The Pirates were actually a fairly nice hedge bet last week, as Adam LaRoche finally started to hit, Freddy Sanchez clubbed over .400 and drilled his first homer of the year, and Xavier Nady rediscovered (or would that be "discovered"?) his power stroke. This week, it's all match-ups: The Rangers have the worst collective ERA in the majors over the last 30 days (5.91), and the White Sox are fourth-worst over the same span (5.25).
Texas Rangers: 3 vs. PIT; 3 @CIN. Speaking of the Rangers, quick, start what you've got before they all get traded! Michael Young and Marlon Byrd each hit over .400 in the last week, and Victor Diaz drove in double-digit RBI (he hit a grand slam). The Pirates' staff has cooled down lately, but it's those three slugging match-ups at Great American I really like; the Reds have the worst ERA in the NL over the last month.
