Zac Gallen will be passed up no longer! After having a third starting pitcher go down due to injury, the Miami Marlins finally will give Gallen a chance to build upon his breakout season at the top level. The right-hander will make his major league debut on Thursday after going 9-1 with a 1.77 ERA in 91 innings for the Triple-A New Orleans Baby Cakes.

What he can do

Gallen is a pitcher's pitcher. He does not have elite fastball velocity, nor is he physically imposing on the mound. What he lacks for in natural ability he makes up for with great location and a feel for the craft. The fastball is still very useful. It comes in around 92 mph with the ability to tick higher on occasion. He spots it well and that helps his secondary options get consistent outs.
