Top September call-up pitchers

Sept. 1 has come and gone, and while there are still plenty of good players who have yet to receive their promotion, more than one talent evaluator told me that the group that we've seen called up to the expanded rosters is a group that ranks up there with the best they've seen in the past few years.

"There's star potential here [among the players who received call-ups]," an NL Central scout said. "Sometimes the guys you see brought up are organizational fodder types, guys that are just stopgaps or only going to help you if you have a guy go down, but there were a few players who received promotion that I can see making multiple All-Star Games, maybe even a few who could be among the best at their position for a long period of time. Baseball is in very good shape in terms of talent right now, and some of these guys are an example of why."
